      Lesson:  ESL lesson on expressing likes and dislikes   Pre-assessment:  Carousel Brainstorm   For my pre-assessment I have decided to go with a carousel brainstorm. I will accomplish this by having students rotate to 3 different brainstorming tables or stations. Above each station is a poster. Station 1:  Draw pictures of likes and dislikes Station 2: write a list of likes and dislikes and write a word or sentence for why you do or don’t like Station 3: draw a picture and write like or dislike next to each item on the list   (this list will contain some varying levels of vocabulary as far as difficulty level)   The point of this carousel brainstorm is  to generate an active and student-centered pre-assessment method so that I can generate data on my classes prior knowledge. Reflection & Review

Reflection & Review First of all, my biggest take away so far is the importance of adapting all the terminology and research we go over into a pragmatic an accessible manner.  For instance, I think creating a poster on strategies for differentiation , accommodations , and modifications with a nice list of strategies for each in a visually appealing and quickly accessible format would be a great resource for my students as well as myself.  In my own case, if there is a weakness I possess, it is not in comprehending the education strategies and concepts I learn, but in maintaining them in my long-term memory and being able to employ them in my day-to-day classroom as needed. Written reflection on managing the learning environment

 Upon reflecting on managing the learning environment I've mostly deduced that the private academy market I am in is not conducive to managing the learning environment in a proper way. That, or I need to amend why or how I'm in the market I am and how to marry managing the learning environment in a more positive way while also satisfying the market and management requirements required to maintain a successful school and returning students.  Also, simply put, I need to reorient what my priorities are and how I can integrate what I've learned while studying at teachnow. Most of all I lack the organized tools and cohort and/or teacher community to keep me motivated and in the right learning environment mode.
